The West Virginia Office of Miners’ Health Safety and Training offers a number of multimedia training materials on a variety of mining related subjects.
Miner Training Programs
40 Hour (Surface) and 80 Hour (Underground) Apprentice Miner Program CDs
Continuing Education - Underground Mine Foremen
Two year required training for all underground mine foremen.
Clear Cutting Program
Required training program for employees of companies engaged in clear cutting.
Rivermen Training
Training program for employees of river load-out facilities.
Truck Driver Program
Coal truck drive certification program.
Deep Cut Mining Program
This is a program developed by MHS&T staff designed to assist the miner operator in achieving the safest operating position. This program will assist in properly training the continuous mining machine crew and haulage personnel in the correct operation of remote controlled continuous mining machines.
High Voltage Electrical Safety Course CD
This interactive CD is used in conjunction with the High Voltage test panels, recently developed by WVMHS&T and is a component of the revised electrical certification program and was developed in cooperation with West Virginia University Mining Extension Service.
