The West Virginia Office of Miners' Health, Safety and Training is responsible for the enforcement of the West Virginia Mine Safety Laws and Regulations (Chapter 22A Code of WV).  Learn more about our agency from our Informational page or from our Agency Mission Statement page.

NOTICES:

Examinations for Underground Mine Inspector, Safety Instructor, Surface Inspector, and Electrical Inspector will be held at the Flatwoods Days Inn & Suites located at 350 Days Drive, Sutton, WV, 26601. The following are the dates and times for the Map Class and Exams:

Map Class for underground inspectors
     January 6, 2019 - Begins at 6:30 p.m.


Underground Inspector and Safety Instructor
     January 7, 2019 - Begins at 8:00 a.m.


Surface Inspector and Electrical Inspector Exams
     January 8, 2019 - Begins at 8:00 a.m.

THE WV OFFICE OF MINERS' HEALTH, SAFETY AND TRAINING WILL BEGIN ISSUING THE SAFETY SENSITIVE PERSONNEL CARD ON TUESDAY,  JANUARY 22, 2013. 

TO OBTAIN, YOU MUST VISIT ONE OF OUR OFFICES TO HAVE YOUR PHOTO MADE AND CARD ISSUED. A COMPLETED SAFETY SENSITIVE PERSONNEL FORM AND A $10 FEE IS REQUIRED.

Mine Inspectors' Examinations - Be advised that with the passage of S.B. 687, the Mine Inspectors' Examining Board duties will be absorbed by the Board of Coal Mine Health and Safety, effective July 1, 2017.
